Frequently Asked Questions

With Zika in the news, is Wynwood safe to visit? A few things to keep in mind based on current knowledge as of August 2016:

1. Zika is harmless to most people. If you are not scared of catching a cold, then there is no reason to be scared of catching Zika UNLESS you are pregnant or you or your partner may become pregnant. The biggest concern with Zika is potential complications in babies whose mother was infected with Zika during pregnancy. If you have chronic health conditions, you may also be more vulnerable to Zika-related complications (as with most other infections).

Wynwood Art Walk, also known as Second Saturday Art Walk, is a monthly event in the Wynwood Art District when nearly all galleries, bars, and restaurants are open and artists and companies stage events. The area becomes electrified from thousands of visitors. Besides enjoying and buying art, visitors eat at the local restaurants, visit bars, shop from street vendors. The District has no universal hours of operation. Each gallery and collection keeps its own hours, so it is best to call before heading to a specific gallery. (Most galleries have websites and many appear in our directory.)

Many galleries are open Tuesday through Saturday, so if you want to visit the area and browse through galleries, you should be able to do so on these days. You may also book a private tour for these days.

We have no information on holiday hours. You will need to call galleries to find out if they are open on Christmas Day, etc.

On Sundays, most galleries are closed, but graffiti art keeps no hours of operation and Wynwood Walls is open from 10:30 am to 8 pm or later.

Some establishments can only be visited by appointment.

Some restaurants and bars are open seven days a week while others are open only 3 days. Again, you will need to call ahead.
