General Questions

Wynwood is a neighborhood in Miami that is now home to numerous galleries, art collections, street art, and restaurants. The Art District is approximately between NW 20th Street and 36th Street and NE 2nd Avenue to I-95; however the heart of the District is roughly between NW 22nd Street and NW 29th Street and North Miami Avenue to NW 4th Avenue. The area is slowly expanding west into the Fashion District.

Wynwood is just north of Downtown Miami.

For a bit of history on Wynwood, read our blogpost A Brief History of Wynwood.

Wynwood Art Walk, also known as Second Saturday Art Walk, is a monthly event in the Wynwood Art District when nearly all galleries, bars, and restaurants are open and artists and companies stage events. The area becomes electrified from thousands of visitors. Besides enjoying and buying art, visitors eat at the local restaurants, visit bars, shop from street vendors. A variety of things may be going on including artists working on graffiti, models being photographed, companies doing promotions, bands giving free concerts, and stuff we can’t describe because we haven’t seen it yet.
The District has no universal hours of operation. Each gallery and collection keeps its own hours, so it is best to call before heading to a specific gallery. (Most galleries have websites and many appear in our directory.)

Many galleries are open Tuesday through Saturday, so if you want to visit the area and browse through galleries, you should be able to do so on these days. You may also book a private tour for these days.

We have no information on holiday hours. You will need to call galleries to find out if they are open on Christmas Day, etc.

On Sundays, most galleries are closed, but graffiti art keeps no hours of operation and Wynwood Walls is open from 10:30 am to 8 pm or later.

Some establishments can only be visited by appointment.

Some restaurants and bars are open seven days a week while others are open only 3 days. Again, you will need to call ahead.

The Art Walk has no specific start time. The area is busy from lunch time or earlier and by 6 pm, traffic coming into the area is jammed. Festivities continue into the night, until at least 11 pm or midnight.

Individual galleries have individual hours and may decide to close early or stay closed during Art Walk.

No. Aside from parking fees, there is no charge for visiting Wynwood.

One parking lot is at NW 27th Street, off of 2nd Avenue. There are other lots, some temporary, in the area.

A parking garage is being built at 260 NW 26th Street, slated to come online in summer or fall of 2018.

During Art Walk and events (e.g. Art Wynwood), temporary lots are opened up where parking is usually $10 to $20.

Wynwood is an up-and-coming neighborhood. It is generally safe during daylight hours and during Second Saturday nights. After nightfall, you should stay mindful of your surroundings. During Second Saturday, there is a noticeable police presence and a LOT of people around.
There are numerous options. See some in our directory.
