Walking Tour of Wynwood galleries and street art. Wynwood straddles two seemingly incompatible worlds: urban blight that gave birth to modern graffiti on the one hand and fine art, high society, on the other. Wynwood, on a few square blocks, has come to symbolize all things that are Miami. Rising above its history of race riots and gang violence, Wynwood has welcomed artists and opportunists from right here and around the world. It is an astonishing incubator of diversity and art, and if you are not part of its scene, you are missing out on a major phenomenon of your generation. A tour with WynwoodArtWalk will introduce you to the lay of the land here and to some of its thriving artists, murals, and galleries.

If you have been to a 2nd Saturday Art Walk and think you know Wynwood, this tour can give you a new appreciation. If you have never been, then this is a fun way to get acquainted with the scene.

What to Expect:

This is a walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes! Bringing a bottle of water, sunscreen, and a hat is also a good idea.

We will visit 3 or more of the best galleries, such as Gregg Shienbaum Fine Art, offering art by widely acclaimed artists, like the iconic pop artist Andy Warhol, as well as contemporary street art, by the likes Shepard Fairey. We will also visit many of the murals in the area, for example David Walker’s and Interesni Kazki’s, and learn about the artists behind them, about their techniques and stories. As we stroll the streets, we talk about the changes in the area from the metamorphosis of individual walls to the transformation of buildings and local businesses. We will hear about the development of Wynwood from its riot-scarred memories through neglected recent past to the gentrification of the present.

You will have a chance to ask questions about any and everything discussed and will receive recommendations for further exploration or for wining/dining tips upon request.

*Specific gallery stops, artwork, and murals are subject to change as galleries change shows and hours, and murals are painted over.
